Joseph Chang, AIA

Joseph believes that architecture is ultimately about experience, an understanding shaped long before his first role in an architecture office. Before beginning his architectural career, he owned and operated a coffee shop. This experience reinforced the idea that the right environment brings people together and that relationships shape meaningful spaces. Those principles continue to guide his work today.

After earning his Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington, Joseph spent 14 years designing spaces that tell stories, beginning with large-scale commercial projects and later focusing on luxury residential design. His experience at firms including Omniplan, SmithGroup, and SHM Architects refined his ability to deliver work that is both purposeful and beautifully executed.

At A. Michael Architecture, Joseph serves as Director of Architecture, bringing a high-touch, detail-driven approach to the studio and each project. He works closely with the team and clients to create spaces that are functional, inspiring, and rooted in comfort and well-being, while also helping shape internal processes that ensure clarity, consistency, and an exceptional client experience.

Outside the studio, Joseph is a dad, a coffee enthusiast, and a passionate home cook, interests that reflect his belief that creativity and care extend well beyond the drafting table.
